Shoplifters caught in the act
Three local aunties take on the local supermarket staff in a desperate bid to obtain hugely discounted grocery items for free.
Rotorua police have arrested two women after watching a YouTube posting of an incident at a Countdown supermarket in the town.
Inspector Ed Van Den Broek said a woman aged 30 and another aged 50 had been charged with aggravated assault and theft.
Police had been made aware of the incident when it happened, last Wednesday night, and had charged the two women after seeing the YouTube item.
The 28 second clip appears to show a struggle over a bag between three women and two store employees in a supermarket doorway.
Van Den Broek said the staff at the supermarket were doing their job but unfortunately the matter had escalated.
