Media were given a tour of City Mall today, where more than 150 workers are furiously trying to prepare for the grand opening.
The two clusters of converted containers will house 25 shops and two cafes come Saturday, October 29.
This will include many well-known central city shops that have been homeless since the city was fenced off after the devastating February earthquake.
Former High St shops Hunters & Collectors, Toi Toi, and Plush will be among the first tenants.
Other well-known stores include Johnson's Grocery Store, formerly on Colombo St, and Scorpio Books, formerly on Hereford St.
The cafes will be Hummingbird Coffee and Crafted Coffee.
City Mall will be the first significant part of the city to reopen since the February earthquake.
