1) The road to Mt. Cook from the Queenstown / Lake Tekapo junction.
and the destination is the Mt. Cook village and Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre.
Lake Pukaki ,the snow capped Mt. Cook, valleys make this my top NZ road.....the ride is smooth,
not hilly and not winding with very few cars on the road. Most of the tourists will reach the Alpine Centre at noon for lunch and have enough time to travel to Queenstown or Christchurch depending on which direction you are going. We have travelled there by coach and at lunchtime there is a big crowd at the Cafe. But when we went on our own and arrived after 4pm, the cafe was closing.Sorry, Kiwis dont take lunch at 4 pm !

They cut the salmon fillet on both sides of the fish and throw away the rest together with the head.Once we asked for and they packed 2 fish heads taken from the plastic bin with bones for us.We took it to our backpackers at Twizel town and had a good dinner with salmon fish and salad soup.
